I graduated from Sutherland-Chan in 2022. Before becoming an RMT, I worked in accounting for 20 years. I always wanted to work in the health/medical field, but I didn’t have the opportunity since I started my family early in life.

I am an “outside the box” thinker, and I am an innovator. The skills I have acquired from school and the experience working in clinics with people with arthritis & joint pain, mood & sleeping disorders, pregnancy and seniors, has helped me find my therapeutic identity and how I do my treatments. I like to combine different techniques such as myofascial work, fascial stretching, dynamic stretching, Swedish massage, lymphatic drainage, scar tissue work, and making it all my own style. I like incorporating different modalities such as hydrotherapy (hot stones, paraffin wax, hot/cold contrast, thermophore), castor oil, myofascial cups and acupuncture into my practice.

In most of my treatments, I like to focus on the chest walls, breast, abdominals, inner thighs, feet, hands and lower limb mobility. I always end my treatment with a scalp and facial massage to give that sense of Zen.

So, if you’re looking for something more than just your typical massage then I am your therapist.

In my spare time, I like to watch my Korean and Chinese dramas, I love putting puzzles together or building Lego sets with my kids. I like playing beach and indoor volleyball. I make a mission to go the spa with my close friend once a month to just relax and catch up on life.

I am very fortunate to be able to work in a profession where I can help people not only physically but mentally.

At the beginning of the pandemic, my mom passed away because of pulmonary embolism, and I took a year off from school to take care of my mental health. This made me realize that as a person who had a mental disability and when you fall into that deep black hole that no matter what you do or how hard you try to get yourself out, you realize that you can’t do it alone. You don’t need to feel ashamed, embarrassed, and worried about what people think of you. I found that going to counseling helped me overcome these challenges and how to cope with my thoughts in my life. During this journey, I discovered acupuncture helped balance my nervous system and Reiki had helped revitalize my energy. In addition, massage therapy helped me relax, reduce my stress, aches, and pains. It gave me some alone time away from the external environment, my “me time”.

As a massage therapist, I feel we can make a difference in someone’s life. Just a simple therapeutic touch can make their day. Being compassionate, empathic, and having the intention to make someone feel better. What we do as therapists can give them a glimpse of how it feels to be at peace with themselves and hope that one day, they will be able to get out of the dark place.
